Zoey on August 16, 2013

This is Zoey.  She’s a rescue dog that we adopted in 2008 from the Helen Woodward Animal Center in Rancho Santa Fe, CA.  She’s approximately 7 years old in this photo.  She’s originally from the Los Angeles area where she was taken into a shelter with her litter of puppies.  The shelter was unable to care for her and her puppies, but the folks at Helen Woodward said they could, so Zoey and her puppies were transferred to Rancho Santa Fe.  Zoey raised her six puppies at HWAC.  The workers at HWAC were delighted with Zoey because instead of trying to get a break from tending to her brood, she would attempt to play with them!  All of the pups were eventually adopted, and, although we never saw them or photos of them, we sure hope they went to great homes.   Finally it was Zoey’s turn to find a forever home, and that’s when we showed up looking for a pet.  As you can see she has the cutest little Jack Russell face and a whippet-like body.  She’s a little under 30 pounds, and she insists that she’s a lap dog by crawling into Gil’s lap every evening!
